Stan Musial drove in his team's first 5 runs to lead St. Louis to a hard fought victory against the Texas Rangers. Musial blasted a 2-R HR in the 1st, bombed a deep double to center s coring two more in the 5th and added a solo HR in the decisive 3-run St. Louis 8th inning.Ozzie Smith's 2-out error in the top of the 9th cut the Ranger deficit to one, but Jason Isringhausen got the final out before any more damage occured. Texas was in the game the whole way - they can't afford to lose the close ones if they want to take the series. |
